Jet Card Price Comparison
There are many differences between various jet card programs. Ultimately, what matters most after safety, service levels and suitability of aircraft for your trip, is all-in cost per hour. We have chosen to study the light and midsize sector of the marketplace, which we believe accounts for more than 50% of all jet card activity. The source of the data in the following table is information published by each of the providers effective as of July 24, 2008.
In order to simplify or "unveil" the pricing, we have attempted to roll all known costs into a simple, all-in hourly cost. Costs include the following:
- Hourly charges
- Fuel surcharges calculated at $5.08 per gallon
- Federal Excise Tax
- War Risk insurance surcharges
- Landing fees where included
- Any noted surcharges for peak day travel
Other important considerations include:
- Who operates the aircraft in the program you choose
- Whether the majority of your travel is on peak or non-peak days of the year
- The minimum purchase amount required to join a program
- Whether or not your purchase is refundable if you do not use all hours purchased
- Callout – the advance notice necessary to schedule a trip
- The minimum flight time charge per trip
- Whether or not extra fees are charged for international destinations
